The Rawlins County Buffaloes couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Decatur Community by a score of 35-32. Rawlins County lost against Decatur Community in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 40-34 score last time.
Despite the loss, Rawlins County still got an impressive performance from Tayten Dewey, who scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Kayte Shively, who scored 9 points.
Even though they lost, Rawlins County were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Decatur Community only posted four.
Decatur Community's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makadyn Ketterl led the charge by scoring 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brylee Minnick, who scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
Rawlins County's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Decatur Community, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Rawlins County will face off against Central Christian Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Decatur Community, they will face off against Wauneta-Palisade at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
