If Brownsboro wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Canton, they should've done a better job of containing Mallory Alexander. The Eagles walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Bears on Tuesday for which the team can thank Alexander, who had 24 assists and seven digs. She has been hot, having posted 14 or more assists the last seven times she's played.
Canton had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-18.
Canton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kate McClendon led the charge by getting 11 digs.
Meanwhile, Van earned a 3-1 win over Lindale on Tuesday.
Van was actually outscored in aggregate across those four sets (94-92), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 28-26, 25-19, 13-25, 26-24.
Canton better focus on containing Caydence Thompson and Averi Crouch as the pair were huge in Van's win. Thompson had 19 digs and two aces, while Crouch had seven digs. That's the most digs Thompson has posted over her last six matchups.
Canton's victory bumped their record up to 25-13. As for Van, their win bumped their record up to 26-7.
