Basketball Recap: Greenwood Find Success

There's no place like home for Greenwood, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They escaped with a win on Tuesday against the Whiteland Warriors by the margin of a single free throw, 57-56. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 52-50 last Friday.

Greenwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Acen Swain, who went 7 for 12 en route to 19 points and five rebounds. Those 19 points gave Swain a new career-high. Parker Doolin was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points and eight boards.

When it comes to explaining why Whiteland lost, don't look at Ethan Edwards. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 15 en route to 22 points. That was a full 39.3% of Whiteland's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kyle Edwards, who had 11 points.

Greenwood's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for Whiteland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Greenwood will host Decatur Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Decatur Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.5 points per game this season. As for Whiteland, they will be playing at home against Franklin Community at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Whiteland is facing Franklin Community at the right time seeing as Franklin Community is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
