The Durango Trailblazers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight loss. They fell just short of Canyon Springs by a score of 52-49. Durango was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Canyon Springs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Armondo Lewis Jr was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds for Canyon Springs. The team also got some help courtesy of Melvin Reece, who scored ten points.
Durango has been struggling recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season. As for Canyon Springs, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Durango will take on Foothill at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Foothill presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Durango in Nevada (Foothill is ranked sixth, while Durango is ranked 55th). As for Canyon Springs, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Desert Oasis at 6:30 p.m. on January 29th. One thing working in Desert Oasis' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
