The Loyola Cubs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Paraclete 36-7 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-0.
Loyola was led to victory by Khalil Cueva and Thomas Knyal. Cueva gained 77 total yards and two touchdowns, while Knyal threw for 208 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Loyola also got help from Duke Giarraputo who showed off his sure hands for 89 receiving yards.
Loyola's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 4.5 times. Leading the way was Isaiah Sanders and his 2.5 sacks.
Loyola's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Paraclete, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Loyola will take on Cathedral at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cathedral will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Paraclete, they will head out on the road to face off against Crespi at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Crespi will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 436th, while Paraclete is ranked 94th).
