Cordova won the last time they faced Memphis East and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Wolves blew past the Mustangs 15-1. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Erick Valles made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Christian Mauk was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. John Kirkland was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Cordova always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .806. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Cordova and bumps their season record up to 8-4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Memphis East, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cordova will face off against Sheffield at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolves are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Memphis East, they are taking a road trip to square off against Whitehaven at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.33 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
