The Concord Christian Lions had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 61-57 W over Berean Christian on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Concord Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Drew Sloan, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 20 rebounds. The contest was Sloan's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Cale Smith was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds.
Several Berean Christian players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Deonte Smith, who scored 17 points. The game was Smith's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Copeland, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Concord Christian's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Berean Christian, they bumped their record down to 4-4 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Concord Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against King's Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Berean Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Christian Academy of Knoxville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Christian Academy of Knoxville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
