Make it ten blowout wins for the Hillcrest Jaguars this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Shields 81-45 at home. Winning may never get old, but Hillcrest sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
It was another big night for Robert Simpson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. Jermonte Stallworth was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Shields' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jalance Kimbrough, who scored 13 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zhylan Quarles, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Hillcrest is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. As for Shields, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.
Hillcrest the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Escambia County at 7:30 p.m. on January 15th. Escambia County will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Shields will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against McKenzie at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. McKenzie is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
