The Weeping Water Indians's three-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They snuck past Pawnee City with a 41-37 win. The score was all tied up 24-24 at the break, but Weeping Water was the better team in the second half.
Weeping Water got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sayler Rhodes out in front who scored 11 points. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Gus Mcgill, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Anthony Kling and Oscar Machini certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Kling scored 16 points along with five rebounds, while Machini scored 16 points along with three steals. Kling scored a full 43.2% of Pawnee City's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Weeping Water's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-3. As for Pawnee City, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weeping Water will be home for the holidays to greet Southern at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Southern has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Pawnee City will finish 2023 at home by hosting Sterling on December 29th. Sterling comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
