St. Anthony's batters probably weren't too happy with Gianelle Napoles, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (she gave up three walks). Those 11 strikeouts gave Napoles a new career-high.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aleena Gutierrez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Eveny Gomez, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Saint Joseph got the win against Chaparral on Saturday by a conclusive 12-4. The result was nothing new for the Jesters, who have now won six matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Carmen Henderson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Julianna Vasquez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Saint Joseph was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chaparral only posted a batting average of .318.
Saint Joseph has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. St. Paul's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 8-9.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. St. Paul hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Saint Joseph struggles in that department as they've averaged .379. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
