It was a good run, but the Jackson-Reed Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 60-46 bruising from Maret. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jackson-Reed in their matchups with Maret: they've now lost five in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Maret to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kennedy Austin, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Austin has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. London Liley was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Jackson-Reed's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6-1. As for Maret, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jackson-Reed will take on Bell at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Bell is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Maret, they will play host again and welcome Sidwell Friends, where tip off is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
