The Beaver Beavers will square off against the Duchesne Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Beaver comes in on three and Duchesne on six.
Beaver is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Altamont 2-1.
KaBella Low spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lexi Hafen was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double. Another player making a difference was Danzee Bradshaw, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Duchesne was able to grind out a solid win over Grand County on Thursday, taking the game 7-3.
Kira Grant made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Grant wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kamee Larsen, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Beaver's victory bumped their record up to 22-8. As for Duchesne, their win bumped their record up to 23-7.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Beaver has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .466. However, it's not like Duchesne struggles in that department as they've averaged .510. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Beaver came out on top in a nail-biter against Duchesne when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 9-8. Will the Beavers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
