IV Section V recap October 1, 2013
Luke McDermott and Sam Stoor provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Wickenburg. The connection was good for 92 yards, the longest such play in IV Section V this season.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Snowflake beat Monument Valley 48-8. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Lobos.
Colby Maxwell threw for 334 yards and 5 touchdowns. He went 24-30 with 0 interception.
Lehi Caldwell was the best running back in the league this week. In 6 carries, he ran for 112 yards as Snowflake bested Casa Grande. Rick Shumway also contributed to the rushing game with 81 yards on the ground.
5-foot-9 quarterback Maxwell of the Cougars is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,120. He has also thrown 11 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Stoor. The Fountain Hills star has 24 catches for 410 yards.
The top two teams in IV Section V will face off this week when first place Snowflake takes on second place Blue Ridge. Last week, Ron Tenney's team topped the Mustangs, while Blue Ridge beat Alchesay.
The Lobos' offense has scored 200 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Yellow Jackets have allowed only 36 on the year.
Show Low took down the Cougars 62-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Maxwell during the win.
