They took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clovis West. The Timberwolves were up 21-7 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
Clovis East's defeat came about despite a quality game from Jamie Spurgeon, who rushed for 89 yards and one score on only 11 carries, and also threw for 119 yards and one TD.
Meanwhile, Central East waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They breezed past the Broncos to the tune of 56-13. The result was nothing new for the Bengals, who have now won four games by 24 points or more so far this season.
Clovis East better keep an eye on Jelani Dippel. He was instrumental in Central East's win, throwing for 201 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 101 yards on only 12 carries. Those 101 rushing yards gave Dippel a new career-high.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Central East proved: they limited Clovis North to a paltry 2.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Juan Ochoa for the heroic effort on defense: he. Central East didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.7.
Clovis East's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Central East, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Spurgeon and Dippel. Spurgeon just won't slow down this season and has thrown 8 touchdowns while averaging 173.8 passing yards per game. Dippel has been a dominant force too and has thrown 18 touchdowns (and and only 3 picks) while averaging 252.3 passing yards per game.
Clovis East couldn't quite get it done against Central East in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 as they fell 33-24. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Dippel, who threw for 217 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 63 yards on only seven carries.
