Having just played yesterday, the Biloxi Indians will get right back to it and host the Greene County Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on December 29th. Biloxi is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
Biloxi has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 20 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat St. Scholastica 57-22 at home.
Zaniya Johnson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 43 points and 13 rebounds. The contest was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Davison, who scored four points along with eight assists.
Meanwhile, Greene County was beaten by D'Iberville 74-39 on Thursday. Greene County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-23.
Despite their loss, Greene County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kam Lawrence, who scored eight points along with three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Lillian Rau, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Biloxi's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1. As for Greene County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-8.
Friday's matchup is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Biloxi have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 25.6 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Greene County, though, as they've been averaging only 29.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Biloxi didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Greene County in their previous meeting back in November of 2014, but they still walked away with a 54-49 win. Will Biloxi repeat their success, or does Greene County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
