If the Boulder Panthers were riding high off their 64-10 takedown of the DSST: Conservatory Green Hornets on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Boulder took a 52-33 bruising from Fairview on Saturday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Boulder came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Fairview is ranked 137th).
Despite the loss, Boulder saw an underclassman step up: Remi Kingdom scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Gaby Mccollester, who scored 0 points along with 14 rebounds and 4 steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fairview to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bella Chang, who scored 17 points along with 4 steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Chang has scored at least 25% of Fairview's points. Danae Addison-Taylor was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals.
Boulder's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Fairview, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boulder will take on Heritage at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Fairview will be home for the holidays to greet Lakewood at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
