NCISAA Big East recap Oct. 9, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to North Raleigh Christian Academy, who took down 209th ranked North Raleigh Christian Academy, 38-21. Kelly Nelms ran for 283 yards and caught two passes for 36 yards in the win.
Harrells Christian Academy moved up to 239 from 274 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in NCISAA Big East. The Crusaders climbed the ranks as a result of a 38-21 win over the Knights.
North Raleigh Christian Academy's dynamic duo of John Cook and Charlie Davisson proved tough for Harrells Christian Academy to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Cook threw for 286 yards and three touchdowns and Davisson had 128 yards receiving. Josiah Ewart helped North Raleigh Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching two balls for 79 yards.
Ewart made the biggest impact on defense this week as Rich Landis' team fell to Brian Aldridge's team. The 6-foot-0 senior recorded one fumble.
The Knights' Cook and Davisson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Cook has thrown for 1461 yards this season, while Davisson, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 25 catches for 598 yards. Russell Washington from the Crusaders leads the league in rushing with 1112 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when North Raleigh Christian Academy takes on Ravenscroft. At the moment, the Knights are in first, while the Ravens are in fourth.
Ravenscroft led NCISAA Big East in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on Wake Christian Academy.
