The Desert Sunrise Golden Hawks kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They were dealt a 58-27 defeat at the hands of Mountain View.
Despite the loss, Desert Sunrise had strong showings from Chelsea Smith, who scored seven points, and Shayla Hill, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Desert Sunrise's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Mountain View, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Desert Sunrise will be home for the holidays to greet San Tan Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully San Tan Foothills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 last Thursday. Mountain View will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Desert View at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
