Dudley hasn't had much luck against Page recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Panthers will head out to take on the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Dudley has given up an average of 17.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Dudley's last matchup with Western Guilford could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Tuesday. The Panthers lost 14-3 to the Hornets.
Hannah Simmons made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Rayne Baker was another key player, earning one run and two stolen bases.
Southwest Guilford hit Page with a ten-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pirates came up short against the Cowboys, falling 15-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Pirates in their meetings with the Cowboys: they've now lost seven in a row.
Page saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nora Glasgo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Glasgo has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another was Jaslyn Marshall, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Page's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Dudley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Dudley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Page struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Dudley might still be hurting after the 17-0 loss they got from Page in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
