After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Maui, the Kalaheo Mustangs were happy to have found some success on Friday. They snuck past Lanai with a 46-42 victory. For Kalaheo, this counts as revenge for the 49-46 defeat Lanai walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2019.
Kalaheo got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Illiana Leasiolagi out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Leasiolagi has scored at least 25% of Kalaheo's points. Tayshah Ukauka was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 4 steals and 3 blocks.
Kalaheo is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. As for Lanai, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kalaheo is on the road again on Saturday and play against Baldwin at 10:00 a.m. on December 2nd. Lanai will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Seabury Hall at 7:00 p.m. on January 19, 2024.
