Softball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Silverton's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

Silverton won the last time they faced West Albany and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Foxes were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Bulldogs. The result was nothing new for the Foxes, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Mckenzee Petersen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Hannah Houts was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Madalynn Ehrens, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Silverton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Albany only posted an OBP of .314.

Silverton is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for West Albany, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-12 record.

Coming up, Silverton will look to defend their home field on Friday against Crescent Valley at 4:30 p.m. The Foxes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for West Albany, they will head out on the road to face off against Dallas at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Dragons will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
