There's no place like home for the Triton Hawks, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 56-43 victory over Western Harnett on Tuesday. Given Triton's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Western Harnett is ranked 621st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Romello Pegues continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. He hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Javon Cowan was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Triton's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points per game. As for Western Harnett, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-20.
Triton will head out on the road to face off against Pine Forest at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Triton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Pine Forest likes a good challenge. As for Western Harnett, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Chatham Central at 7:30 p.m. Chatham Central will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Western Harnett surely won't give up without a fight.
