Softball Recap: Southside Starts Season with Win at Home

Southside took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 10-3 margin over the Rose Bud Ramblers. This was payback for the Southerners, who suffered a 15-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Carlee Duncan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Duncan was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Southside got a massive performance out of Kylie Roberts, who scored two runs and stole Five bases. while going 5-for-5. Chaney McCance was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Rose Bud's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Southside will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Trumann at 4:30 p.m. on April 15th. As for Rose Bud, they will take on Perryville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Perryville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.5 runs per game this season.
