The MacArthur Brahmas typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday the Alamo Heights Mules proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged the Brahmas out 48-46. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Alamo Heights.
Alamo Heights' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sophia Zadel led the charge by scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. The game was Zadel's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Berkley Hart, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the defeat, MacArthur saw an underclassman step up: Ellie Lee dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Lee is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Lyah Neira was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Alamo Heights is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for MacArthur, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-11.
Alamo Heights will take on Brackenridge at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Brackenridge is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games. As for MacArthur, they will head out on the road to face off against Highlands at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Highlands will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1040th, while MacArthur is ranked 380th).
