The Nordhoff Rangers will head out on the road to square off against the Thacher Toads at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Nordhoff is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
Last Wednesday, Nordhoff came up short against Buena and fell 8-4.

Weston Haley put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That double was his first of the season.
Haley wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jacob De Alba, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Thacher, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Foothill Tech 7-5. The win was some much needed relief for the Toads as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Like Nordhoff, Thacher also got a great game from a two-way player: Miles Maxwell. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Maxwell was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.
Nordhoff's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Thacher, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-5.
Nordhoff's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's matchup. The Rangers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Thacher, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Nordhoff continue to outrun the ball?
Nordhoff suffered a grim 15-6 defeat to Thacher in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Rangers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
