Baseball Recap: Oakridge Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Oakridge barely beat Grace Prep the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Oakridge Owls put the hurt on the Grace Prep Lions with a sharp 13-5 win on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Owls sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

The team relied heavily on Andrew Nelson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Oakridge is undefeated when Nelson posts two or more runs, but 4-7-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Dearman, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Oakridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .568 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Oakridge's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Grace Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-9-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oakridge will welcome First Baptist at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Grace Prep, they will be playing at home against Brook Hill at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th. Brook Hill's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Grace Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
