The Andrews Wildcats waltzed into their game Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They came out on top against Murphy by a score of 66-54. For Andrews, this counts as revenge for the 69-50 defeat Murphy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Andrews' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ty Clark led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six rebounds. The contest was Clark's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jailen Powell, who scored 17 points.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dominick Rummler, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Zach Skogen, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Andrews' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Murphy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Andrews will face off against Blue Ridge Early College at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Blue Ridge Early College will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 675th, while Andrews is ranked 167th). As for Murphy, they will head out on the road to face off against McMinn County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
