It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Owensboro Catholic Aces had no problem doing just that on Monday. They claimed a resounding 44-15 victory over the Briar Jumpers at home. The win was just business as usual for Owensboro Catholic, who after 14 games remain undefeated this season.
Brady Atwell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 476 yards and five touchdowns, while also rushing for 92 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Atwell is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. William "Tutt" Carrico was another key contributor, picking up 177 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Owensboro Catholic's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.67 points. As for Somerset, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-4.
Owensboro Catholic will face off against Mayfield at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Mayfield's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten matchups. Somerset does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
