The DuQuoin Indians and the Frankfort Redbirds will face off at 7:45 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard on Tuesday.
DuQuoin came into Saturday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Chester on Saturday and snuck past 66-63. The win was just what DuQuoin needed coming off of a 56-36 defeat in their prior match.
DuQuoin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dwayne Wilmington led the charge by scoring 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Maynor, who scored 14 points.
Frankfort can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They came out on top against Sesser-Valier by a score of 63-51. The win was just what Frankfort needed coming off of a 72-46 defeat in their prior game.
DuQuoin's win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 8-16. As for Frankfort, their victory bumped their record up to 10-15.
DuQuoin beat the Redbirds 48-36 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Will DuQuoin repeat their success, or do the Redbirds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
