La Cueva is 8-2 against Eldorado since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Golden Eagles at 10:00 a.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as La Cueva comes in on ten and Eldorado on five.
La Cueva's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They didn't even let Manzano on the board, marking the Bears' second-straight 21-0 shutout. Considering the Bears have won 11 contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Liliana Montoya was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Genesis Jaramillo was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Alex Fox was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
La Cueva was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .640. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in 11 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eldorado). Everything went their way against Rio Grande last Monday as they made off with a 20-2 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Eldorado got a massive performance out of Mya Zamora, who scored three runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits Zamora has posted since back in February. Alyssa Martinez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
La Cueva's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Eldorado, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
La Cueva's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The Bears have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Eldorado, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will La Cueva continue to outrun the ball?
La Cueva beat Eldorado 6-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
