It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Providence Panthers can now relate to. They were dealt a 42-7 defeat at the hands of Weddington on Friday. The low total for Providence limited their streak of high-flying scores to three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Providence lost, one person who can't be blamed is Davi Caixeta. Despite the final result, he rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. Caixeta was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards.
Providence now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Weddington, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.
Providence does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Weddington will be playing in front of their home fans against Chambers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chambers is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
