Basketball Recap: Savanna Extends Winning Streak to Three

Savanna had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Estancia Eagles with a sharp 71-51 victory. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Savanna had a senior duo take command as Branden Ellis went 9 for 14 on his way to 27 points and Mathys Rudel dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ellis has scored all season. Paul Henderson was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Savanna smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 15 offensive boards per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 8.

Savanna has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.6 points per game. As for Estancia, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Savanna will head out to face off against Santiago at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Savanna has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 216 points over their last three contests. As for Estancia, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Rancho Alamitos at 6:00 p.m.
