The Rancho Rams can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Western 48-6 at home. With Rancho ahead 34-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Rancho was led to victory by Micah Piepkorn and Terryon Taylor. Piepkorn threw for 226 yards and four touchdowns, while Taylor rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Victor Arellano was another key contributor, picking up 98 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Rancho's victory bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Western, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rancho will square off against Mojave at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Mojave is ranked 50th, while Rancho is ranked 65th). As for Western, they will head out on the road to face off against Somerset Academy Losee at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Somerset Academy Losee knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Western likes a good challenge.
