Basketball Game Preview: Bridgeport Bulls vs. Burkburnett Bulldogs

Bridgeport is 4-0 against Burkburnett since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Bridgeport Bulls are taking a road trip to take on the Burkburnett Bulldogs at 6:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Bridgeport is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Springtown: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Bridgeport blew Springtown out of the water with an 80-30 final score. The Bulls pushed the score to 58-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Porcupines had no chance of recovering from.

Bridgeport's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gracie Rodriguez, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 boards gave Rodriguez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Presley Radke, who went 6 of 9 en route to 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Burkburnett had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past the Bullfrogs 65-30. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Bullfrogs are ranked 882nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Burkburnett's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 26-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Bridgeport, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 26-6 record this season.

Bridgeport strolled past Burkburnett when the teams last played on January 3rd by a score of 63-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bridgeport since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
