Basketball Game Preview: Murrieta Mesa Rams vs. Chaparral Pumas

Murrieta Mesa picked up another tournament win on Monday. They took down West Valley 69-52. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.

Murrieta Mesa's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden Merritt, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Merritt a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Dayne Lumsden, who went 7 of 10 en route to 16 points.

Murrieta Mesa was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chaparral). They blew past South East 83-47 on Monday. The Pumas have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Chaparral's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Murrieta Mesa, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.
