The biggest upset of the week belonged to Shelby-Rising City, who defeated 95th ranked Cross County, 64-16. Nick Schindel threw for 15 yards and 22 touchdowns in the win.
The Huskies moved up to 82 from 108 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in D1 District 4 (8 Man). Shelby-Rising City climbed the ranks as a result of besting the Cougars 64-16.
Jabe Wurtz was a passing and rushing force as High Plains bested East Butler. He completed 11 passes for 214 yards and 5 touchdowns and also ran for 57 yards. Wurtz's favorite target this week was Logan Fleming, who caught 9 passes for 148 yards.
Schindel and Parker Micek gave Jerald Humlicek's team a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Teammate Manuel Lujan added to the ground attack by rushing for 48 yards.
The Storm's Logan Engel and Cole Klingsporn led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Engel has thrown for 818 yards this season, while Klingsporn has 17 catches for 295 yards. Carson Huenefeld from Nebraska Christian leads the league in rushing with 477 yards.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when High Plains' Klingsporn goes up against the Huskies' Schindel.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Greg Wood's team and Shelby-Rising City face off next week.
Next week's game between the Storm and the Huskies will feature a good passing match up as Engel will test his arm against Schindel's defensive ability.
At the moment, the Eagles are in second, while the Tigers are in third.
There should be lots of points scored when High Plains and Shelby-Rising City face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Storm comes in having scored 236 this season, while the Huskies have scored 152. High Plains scored 76 points last week as it topped East Butler.
