The Rossview Hawks will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Kenwood Knights at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Dickson County scored an imposing 80 points on Tuesday, Rossview still came out on top. Rossview took their matchup against Dickson County 91-80. Given Rossview's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Dickson County is ranked 269th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rossview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landon Hankemeier, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 10 rebounds. The contest was Hankemeier's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quamond Linsey, who scored 19 points.
Meanwhile, Kenwood entered their tilt with Clarksville with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Kenwood had just enough and edged Clarksville out 46-44.
Kenwood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jason Russell led the charge by scoring 15 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Russell has scored at least 25% of Kenwood's points. Another player making a difference was Cam?ron Dowell, who scored 7 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 steals.
Rossview is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Kenwood, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Rossview have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Kenwood struggles in that department as they've been even better at 27.2 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
