Notre Dame is a perfect 3-0 against Pioneer since February of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Regents will venture away from home to square off against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. Notre Dame will be strutting in after a victory while Pioneer will be coming in after a defeat.
Notre Dame is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Sequoia on Tuesday. The Regents walked away with a 12-7 win over the Ravens.
Kiera Watson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Estella Martinez was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Jaz Mina was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Notre Dame always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sequoia only posted an OBP of .314.
Meanwhile, Pioneer fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Silver Creek on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 9-8. Mustangs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Raiders since Thursday.
Leilah Ortiz spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and seven unearned) runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Riley Nevins was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those runs were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cara Goodrich, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
The victory got Notre Dame back to even at 6-6. As for Pioneer, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.
Notre Dame beat Pioneer 7-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Regents since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
