Softball Recap: Saint Viator Victorious

While Saint Viator's win against Niles North wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lions had just enough and edged out the Vikings 9-8 on Friday. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Carley Heiden made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Heiden was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Ava Moreno and Ellen Denten did most of the damage at the plate: Moreno scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Denten went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs Denten has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alexis Horn, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Saint Viator kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Saint Viator's record is now 4-6. As for Niles North, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Coming up, Saint Viator will face off against Nazareth Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Niles North, they will challenge Elk Grove at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
