Monroe Central and Winchester Community are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Golden Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Golden Falcons at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Monroe Central took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over Tri. The Golden Bears haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Monroe Central let Caleb Luedike and Carter Duncan run wild. Luedike went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Duncan went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Monroe Central is 7-1 when Duncan posts two or more runs, but 3-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kyler Bogue, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Winchester Community got themselves on the board against Randolph Southern on Thursday, but Randolph Southern never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 16-0 win. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for the Golden Falcons this season.
Dravin Whitehead was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, McCormac Anderson was incredible, going 4-for-5 with six RBI, three runs, and three doubles. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Tre Weist also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Winchester Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory made it two in a row for Winchester Community and bumps their season record up to 10-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Monroe Central, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
Monroe Central came up short against Winchester Community in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 10-7. Can the Golden Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
