Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for California

California waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Bethlehem Center Bulldogs by a score of 10-6. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-4 last Tuesday.

Weston Monticelli made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Kaden Weston was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-5. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Caden Monticelli was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

California kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

California's record is now 3-4-1. As for Bethlehem Center, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. California will welcome Burgettstown at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season. As for Bethlehem Center, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Uniontown at 7:00 p.m. The Red Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.13 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
