On Friday, the Eden Prairie Eagles faced the Wayzata Trojans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Eden Prairie came out on top in a nail-biter against Wayzata and snuck past 56-53. This was payback for Eden Prairie, who suffered a 74-48 defeat the last time these two teams met.
It was another big night for Tori Schlagel, who scored 20 points along with two steals. She hasn't dropped below 18 points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Rae Ehrman, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Eden Prairie's victory bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Wayzata, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eden Prairie will square off against St. Michael-Albertville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Eden Prairie knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully St. Michael-Albertville likes a good challenge. As for Wayzata, they will head out on the road to challenge Edina at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Edina will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Wayzata is ranked sixth).
