It was a good run, but Incarnate Word Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 8-4 to the Holy Cross Knights. The Angels were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 1-0.
Arisela Perez put in work no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off 12 hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Harper Phillips made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Incarnate Word Academy's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 18-2-1. As for Holy Cross, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-5.
