The Gwynn Park Yellowjackets will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South at 7:15 p.m. on February 6th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Saturday, Gwynn Park came up short against the Foresters and fell 55-45.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Geornae Davis, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Pitts, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South was the victim of a tough 67-44 loss at the hands of the Eagles on Thursday.
Despite the loss, Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South saw an underclassman step up: Amaya Johnson scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Cayla Wiley was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Gwynn Park's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Gwynn Park against the in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 72-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gwynn Park since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
