Baseball Game Preview: Marmion Cadets vs. Providence Catholic Celtics

Marmion hasn't had much luck against Providence Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cadets will welcome the Celtics at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Marmion's victory against De La Salle wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cadets won by a run and slipped past the Meteors 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cadets have posted since March 27th.

Eddie Morvice looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Matthew Tulley, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Trajan Storto-Featherson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, while Providence Catholic put up some runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Oswego East. The Celtics were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Wolves. The result was nothing new for the Celtics, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Providence Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Marmion, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7-1.
