Football Recap: Central Comes Up Short + How To Watch

If Central was riding high fresh off their 56-10 takedown of Buford two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 21-20 to the Andrew Jackson Volunteers. The Eagles gained 196 more yards on the day, but it was the Volunteers that made the best use of them.

When it comes to explaining why Central lost, don't look at Ashten Wilson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 208 yards and one TD while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Wilson showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 52 yards. Dwayne Louallen Jr helped out on the ground, rushing for 89 yards.

While Central came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Andrew Jackson: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 50%. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for the Eagles; they were averaging 58.8%completion percentage earlier this season, but in their last three contests they've fallen to only 58.8%.

Andrew Jackson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Damias Seegars led the charge by rushing for 62 yards and a pair of scores, while also picking up 41 receiving yards. Seegars also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Volunteers are undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise.

Having lost for the first time this season, Central fell to 6-1. As for Andrew Jackson, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3.

The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 935 yards in their previous games.
