Rocklin (Calif.) beat
Nevada Union (Grass Valley, Calif.) 35-9 while riding the arm of
Daniel Kniffin, who tossed four touchdown passes.
The Thunder were up 21-2 at the half after taking the lead on a Kniffin touchdown pass to
Jared Amader in the second quarter.
A 14-point fourth quarter was enough to cement the win for Rocklin, as it pushed the final margin of victory to 26.
Kyle Cota played well for the Miners. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to three on the year.
Nevada Union's lone touchdown came on a 4-yard pass from Cota to
Ian Davis in the fourth quarter.
Coming into the game RHS had allowed 18.8 points per game this year. The Thunder held firm on the defensive front, and kept NU well below the 29.8 points it had been averaging per game.
The victory will ease some of the sting of Rocklin's close 30-27 loss to the Grass Valley school last season.
In a Sierra Foothill game next week Nevada Union (3-3) takes on Woodcreek, and Rocklin (3-3) will go up against Granite Bay also in a Sierra Foothill game.
