It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Smithville Seminoles had no problem doing just that on Monday. They slipped by the Eagles 43-42. For Smithville, this counts as revenge for the 49-44 defeat Falkner walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2023.
Smithville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mikayla Wall led the charge by scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Wall continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Hass, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Smithville is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-18 record this season. As for Falkner, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season.
Smithville will take on Baldwyn at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Baldwyn will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Smithville surely won't give up without a fight. Falkner does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
