The North Rangers will face off against the Gilmour Academy Lancers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While North's win against Kenston wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rangers never let the Bombers get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rangers.
The result came thanks to Bailey Licht's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, North's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Maddy Ferrari, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gilmour Academy). Everything went their way against Chagrin Falls on Thursday as they made off with an 18-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lancers considering their two-run performance the game before.
Layla Fortunato looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aiden Pike, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Gundling, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Gilmour Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chagrin Falls only posted an OBP of .238.
Gilmour Academy's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for North, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.
North might still be hurting after the 9-2 defeat they got from Gilmour Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Rangers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
