Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Whiteland Warriors, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were beaten by Decatur Central 41-7 on Friday. Whiteland's loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Whiteland still got an impressive performance from Slate Valentine, who rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. Valentine was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 69 yards.
Decatur Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was KC Berry out in front who rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. The team also got some help courtesy of N'po Dodo, who rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.4 yards per carry.
Whiteland's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Decatur Central, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2.
Whiteland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Decatur Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Bloomington South at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Bloomington South's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last seven matches.
